Apotheosis

Apotheosis is the only word in English language which have so divine and powerful meaning. I came across this word while reading Dan Brown’s great book named ‘Lost symbol’ and since then my mind is fixated on this word. I wanted to express how much impact this single word made on my mind and views from the moment I understood its meaning. Apotheosis literary meaning is ‘an individual has been raised to godlike status’. In other word man’s transformation into god. A human gone through the process of apotheosis becomes a god. 

Now, what more do I have tell you about this word which transform mare humans like you and me into something as divine and powerful as god. Since ancient times humans and civilizations around the world been obsessed with gods and their powers and praised them for these powers. God is all in one and one in all. Everything in nothing and nothing in everything. Confusing as it may seems, but this lines basic meaning is we all and everything in this world including nothing have god in it. God resides in every one of us, but then also becoming god is the most desired wish we all humans have. Along many powers of god am fascinated by two in particular. One of it is ‘Immortality’ and other is being inspiration for millions of people, when they suffer through tough times in their lives, and becoming single source for their uninterrupted faith in humanity. And apotheosis allow any human to taste this two powers for eternity. It’s not fictional and nor exaggerated, when I say any human can taste these god like power, and become source of inspiration for millions of people around the world. 

Apotheosis meaning in lateral is not as appealing to me as the metaphorical meaning. In his book Dan Brown used this word to describe one of greatest wall painting in world which is “Apotheosis of Washington” which exist on dome in the rotunda of the United States Capitol Building in Washington DC. The Apotheosis of Washington depicts George Washington sitting amongst the heavens in an exalted manner, or in literal terms, ascending and becoming a God (apotheosis). Washington, the first U.S. president and commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, is allegorically represented, surrounded by figures from classical mythology. It showcases process of George Washington becoming god. Painting is marvelous in terms of art, but it also give us a meaningful lesson of how great deeds of First president of United states of America turned him into god like figure, and this metaphorical meaning of this word which is fascinating and so meaningful for me. If a human can be immortal he be fearless and lived throughout time, and we still be able to see him as greatest human of all, but history showed us that no human can dodge death. So, how can human become god and live eternal life forever. But it’s not completely true. Among us many humans accomplished apotheosis of their own, and lived through time, and are still alive and will continue to live till end of time. Not in literal meaning, but yes they are still alive after thousands of years since their birth. They are still alive and defied death.

Now, it may be confusing for some of you to follow my thought process because there is not a single human who lived for thousands of year’s right. No, you are wrong. There are many humans whose existence is still alive after many years of their death and will be alive till end of time. Let me clear myself with single name “Alexander the great” who was born on 20/21 July 356 BC and lived a very short life of only 32 years, but since today time was unable to remove his existence from this world. He is still alive as greatest emperor who once conquered entire world during his life time. Even after died at very young age, he is still an inspiration to all human kind, and still alive in our heart because of his deeds. Now, let me give another example of apotheosis “Sachin Tendulkar” do I need to tell anything more. Sachin is the greatest cricketer, and through his unbelievable career he achieved god like figure in heart of his fans around the world, and became ultimate ruler of their heart. And it was Sachin whose retirement was real inspiration for this post. I wanted to write and post this in honor of this great man. It was very emotional and hurtful news of Sachin’s retirement from cricket. I knew cricket just because of him. He is been inspiration for not only to fans, but also he was very inspirational for his fellow team members. And until cricket sport is alive Sachin’s name and legacy will also be alive. He may not play anymore, but still he will rule his fans heart. Many writers and artist are struggling to capture persona of this amazing man. I am not cricket lover, but still he is inspirational for me because it his life story which make me believe that through hard work and passion anyone can achieve their dreams, and live those dreams in reality. No matter how big and hard those dreams are to achieve. If you keep up good hope, and never let go of those dreams of yours even when everyone doubting you, and disrespected your dreams you still can achieve them. He is the god like figure who is inspiring me every time am down and about to quit. He comes to me and whispers in my ears that, “Just this last ball you have to face and if you hit this ball there is no way it’s not going to cross the boundary”. We all have heroic figure for inspiring ourselves through difficult times. And such figures are the people who gone through tremendous hard work and efforts to achieve their dreams and become god like figures in their respected fields, and for me that is real Apotheosis of a mankind. We all hold potential to achieve that position for ourselves, and all we have to do is go through tremendous hard work, face every problem with courage, and conquer every difficulty we face, and achieve our goal, and win over our fears, and become god for our own self.

This process is inspiring, but in reality it is very difficult. Just the way diamond also needed to face grinding will and cutting, and give away unnecessary part of him in order to become shining beautiful and most expensive crystal in world. Gold also need to face Furnace heat in order to become shiny metal with highest value among all the metals. When object also have to prove themselves and go through harsh and hard process in order to become valuable in this world so, how can we expect to become what we want to become without hard efforts and struggle. After greatest fight wining taste greatest. And after that win we achieve our most divine form. After gone through these hard and harsh times we become one with our most divine self and become one with part of god in us. History and present times also is filled with people who achieved this and just because they had faith. Faith in themselves and faith in their hard work. And throughout time people like George Washington, Alexander the Great, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sachin Tendulkar, and many more achieved god like position, and ruled heart of millions of peoples, and will continue to rule them, and became never ending source of energy, and inspiration to everyone who seeks inspiration to achieve great deeds for himself. This is true and real form of apotheosis, and how a mare human can truly achieve position of god, and live that form till eternity, and become immortal. And most beautiful part of this is that every one of us can accomplish this and live our mark on humankind forever through our deeds. All we need is undoubted faith in our self, and never ending hard work to achieve our dreams. Apotheosis is for every one of us who is willing to go through it, and become one with part of god in us, and live throughout time. And once we determine this we and our existence is not limited of our time. We just need a determination and inspiration to achieve our Own Apotheosis.
